Change makers tackle dog issue in Tuba City: Second graders search for solutions to stray dog issue on Navajo Reservation

TUBA CITY, Ariz. — Students in Leslie Hosteen’s second grade class, inspired by the non-fiction book Change Maker, a story about kids who are making a difference in the world, decided to become change makers themselves.

Article published in the Navajo-Hopi Observer on April 18, 2017, by Katherine Locke/NHO. See it online here.

Thank you, students and teacher Mr. Hosteen, for trying to create positive change and encourage responsible pet ownership and care!

Raffle to Benefit Tuba City Humane Society

An Opportunity to Win Custom Art with Your Tuba City Humane Society Benefit Raffle Ticket!
The winning ticket holder will receive a custom 8 X 10″ oil painting, of their own pet, created by Lee Mitchelson. Good photos of your pet will be required. Lee is a member of Oil Painters of America, has illustrated three hardcover books, and is represented by Goldenstein Art in Sedona. Her art is in collections in eleven countries.

It has been said that Lee’s animal art “shimmers with life,” and if so, it is because her whole life has been dedicated to her love and understanding of animals and her desire to protect them from harm.

Lee says, “Please support Tuba City Humane Society (TCHS) in their efforts to bring animals to safety from desperate situations, and to give them kindness, veterinary attention, and both foster and permanent homes. Your purchase of raffle tickets for yourselves and as gifts for other animal lovers helps support TCHS in relieving the suffering of animals.”

Raffle tickets are $3.00 each, and you may purchase as many tickets as you wish. The raffle will end on Monday, May 1, at 5:00 p.m. The raffle drawing will take place on Monday evening, and the raffle winner will be announced on Monday evening by 8:00 p.m. Arizona time.
